Sandy Gilbert, CEO and founder of Solutions To Avoid Red Tide (START), will be the guest speaker at Englewood Indivisible’s December 14th meeting. The public is invited to hear Mr. Gilbert speak on what we can do as individuals and as a community to avoid red tide. The presentation will be at 3:00 PM at Elsie Quirk Library in Englewood.
Founded in 1996 in response to a devastating 10-month-long red tide bloom that ravaged a wide area along the West Coast of Florida, START (Start1.org) is a grass roots, non-profit organization based in Manatee County with membership throughout southwest Florida. START focuses on reducing nutrients in the water that feed red tide. Its projects include oyster and clam restoration.
Sandy Gilbert is a graduate of Cornell University with a BA in economics. He worked for 35 years as an advertising executive with TIME and Smithsonian Magazine and retired to Longboat Key in 2000.
Our meeting place, Elsie Quirk Library, is at 100 West Dearborn Street in Englewood (34223). Newcomers are always welcomed at our meetings.
We'll get ready for an action when the House schedules a vote on impeachment of the president.
You can pick up a list of voters in your neighborhood in Charlotte and Sarasota Counties and start contacting voters registered as independent, looking for those who will not vote for Trump in 2020. (We will find you a partner if you don't want to do this alone.)
We have new, re-designed business cards for you to stock up on. And as always, we'll have our Indivisible Florida t-shirts for sale.
